How to Set Up SSBB REMIX
Step 0) Buy / get a 2GB SD Card*. Also have a functional Wii and a NTSC*** Brawl game disk. You MUST delete / move any custom stages (including the default ones) saved on the Wii or SD Card containing the files for the mod. You can move them to another SD card or delete them, once again.
*You cannot use an SDHC Card. Any memory card with storage space above 2GB is considered SDHC, so just use / buy a 2GB card that specifically says "SD" on it. Why is this? The Wii and Brawl cannot read SDHC cards.
***Sorry PAL/JAP users! There are no plans to develop a version for the PAL/JAP regions yet, unless there is high demand. Submit a response here if you want one.
Step 1) Format the SD card. Important! This process will erase the data on the card and it is therefore recommended that you make a back-up copy of any data you may currently have on your SD card before continuing. This process varies depending on the OS you run, so use whichever method applies.
Windows
Step 2) Extract the downloaded zip file and copy everything in the Brawl Remix FINAL folder onto the SD card. There should be three folders in the download, each titled "apps", "codes", and "private". There should also be 5 additional files that appear in the same menu screen as these folders: "boot.elf", "gameconfig.txt", "SSBB REMIX Updater.exe", "background.png" and "version.txt". Do not touch any of these files or folders. Just eject your SD card.
Step 3) Now, boot your Brawl game with the SD card in the front slot of your Wii and go to the Brawl main menu. Then go into the Vault menu and select Brawl Stage Builder. A black screen loading a "boot.elf" image should go over the screen. When the Gecko OS loads, just select "START GAME" with only the A button. DO NOT fiddle with the other options; just start the game. If the game hangs at the stage builder and the mod does not load, just reboot your Wii and try again. It may take a try or two before the mod loads properly. If it does not, please contact us for assistance.
Step 4) Celebrate! You have loaded SSBB REMIX and can now start to use the mod. I would suggest you edit your music now according to what you want to come up for each course using the provided music excel document. Or jump right into the new world of SSBB REMIX!
